It can be very overwhelming when it comes to packing for travel! But when it comes to a short trip, anywhere between 5 to 7 days, it can be a struggle to decide what to take with you and what not to. If you are a makeup junkie, you want to bring every single colour of lipstick with you. You pack more makeup than the essentials! So, on my recent trip to Mexico with my husband (being our first time), this is what I brought with me in my travel makeup bag for our amazing 7 day vacation at the gorgeous Playa Del Carmen, Mexico!
We went for an all-inclusive trip with Sunwing and as part of the deal we only found out the name of the hotel a couple weeks before our departure date. We took the risk and went ahead with this “surprise” plan since we got a good deal. They placed us in Viva Wyndham Maya, and we were pleasantly surprised! Anyway, I will do another post on details about the entire trip.
I ended up taking a bit more than I actually used on my face. It was quite warm and humid so I really did not feel like doing a full face of makeup.
You cannot go for your vacation without sun protection if you love having fun in the sun. My friends roll their eyes at me, but I am not so much a sun person. I do enjoy it sometimes but I usually love to stay in the more shady areas. However, I always made sure to apply my sunscreen before getting out of the room. The new Vichy Ideal Soleil Sport SPF 60 Face & Body Lotion* ($29.95) kept my skin protected at all times. The best part is that it provides 80 minutes of water and sweat resistance. It can be applied to wet or dry skin which I thought was very convenient. Other than that it was ultra light weight, non greasy with an invisible finish. My husband and I, both used the sunscreen throughout the week.
When you take care of your face & body, you cannot ignore the lips. I also brought the Ideal Soleil Lip SPF30 ($14.95) with me to use under my lipsticks for sun protection. It is not only hydrating but also applies smooth. These two products from Vichy were absolute winners for me during this trip.
For my face, some days I used the Shiseido Urban Environment Tinted UV Protector Broad Spectrum SPF 43 ($37.00). It is a sheer, tinted face cream that is perfect when you want to skip wearing foundation, especially with humid temperatures. I barely used any foundation during the trip. I applied the tinted moisturizer and set it with my Makeup Forever Pro Finish Powder Foundation ($46.00) when I needed a bit more coverage.
For the brows, I used my holy grail Anastasia Brow Wiz ($27.00) and the mini Benefit Roller Lash to give my lashes some definition. I used my cutest Nars blush in Goulue just to add a bit of colour probably once or twice during the trip. The Clinique Chubby Stick for lips in Broadest Berry ($21.00) was my go to for lipstick, pretty much everyday. I thought it was the easiest product to use and moisturizing at the same time!
So, these were basically the products that I used the most during my trip. I now have a better understanding of what I should take next time in my travel makeup bag. I am definitely looking forward to visiting Mexico again!
