In my recent Sephora Haul post, I mentioned that I really wanted to get my hands on the Huda Beauty Faux Filter Foundation during the sale. On repeatedly checking the website for a few weeks, my shade was constantly out of stock. And just as I had thought, my colour was back in stock few days post the sale! I mean, I guess I got lucky because Sephora had just rolled out the $25 off a $50 purchase offer. So yes, I finally did end up grabbing the Huda Beauty Faux Filter Foundation and today I wanted to tell you why you need this foundation in your life.
I think the name ‘Faux Filter’ is perfect to describe this foundation. The Huda Beauty Faux Filter Foundation ($52 CAD) gets 5 stars from me for the coverage. I mean you can cover just about any blemish, hyper pigmentation or spot with this foundation but it still looks skin-like. This foundation is creamy yet thick and you would think that blending would be super time consuming. But it is not! I love using my damp beauty sponge with thick foundations, and this one blends like a dream! A little goes a long way. It is a bit hard to explain but the foundation dries to a smooth and powdery kind of a finish.
The formula works really well for my dry combination skin type but it claims to cater to all skin types from dry to oily. I think that really depends because it may not work for everyone. If you struggle with finding shades, I think you can definitely find one in this collection since there are 30 different colours. The perfect match for me is the shade Tres Leches 320G (for medium skin tones with golden undertones). It was pretty easy for me to figure out my shade but I would definitely suggest you get your shade tested at the store to get an accurate match.
So what is the catch? It has a heavy fragrance which not everyone would enjoy. I have only used non-scented foundations my whole life it took me sometime to get used to the fragrance. But the best part is that it does not linger on so after a while of application. I have also noticed that sometimes it does settle into my smile lines towards the end of the day but nothing too crazy. Also, the price point of $52 is quite high considering the packaging is only a plastic bottle.
All in all, I still do love this foundation since the coverage is amazing and it feels super light weight on the skin despite the thick formula. It lasts forever on the skin and even after 8 hours of wear, my skin still feels and looks flawless. I can totally overlook the fragrance bit because this foundation definitely delivers! My skin looks smooth and airbrushed. I think, for me, this is one of the best foundations that I have tried so far.
