Givenchy released a new mascara this Fall, one that gives your lashes a lash extension effect. The Givenchy Noir Interdit Mascara has a revolutionary wand and a unique formula that adds length and volume to the lashes. This is my first time trying a Givenchy mascara. Also, my lashes are not naturally long or very thick, so I do rely heavily on my mascara for the false lash effect. I believe the drugstore makes not only affordable but also great mascaras. So I have never really given the high-end mascaras a shot! So what is unique about the Givenchy Noir Interdit Mascara?
I have come across several mascaras, even ones with flexible wands but never one that has a bendable feature. The Givenchy Noir Interdit Mascara ($38 CAD) has a flexible one sided comb-like wand that bends to a 90 degree angle and can be used in many ways to apply mascara due to this adjustable feature. The packaging is super sleek and very much like the Givenchy Interdit lipsticks. The mascara is scented, which I don’t really mind because it does not linger or seem overpowering.
Now, I have tried this mascara a few times, but it took a bit of getting used to. I use the mouth of the mascara bottle, to bend the wand in the angle I prefer. I used it the regular way and with the wand bent at 90 degrees. It definitely added some length to my lashes but not as much volume (I applied 2 coats). Also, the bristles are pretty “sharp”. I stabbed myself in the eye a few times, ending up with very watery eyes! Also, I find that it kind of made the application a bit sloppy due to the size or design of the brush.
Overall, I do like the effect it gave my lashes but I still do prefer my holy grail drugstore mascara more! I do like the innovative flexible wand feature but the bristles are quite sharp which is a let down for me. If I am in a rush, this mascara would make the application process quite a hassle. For $38 CAD, I would pass on this one.
